20 ways to enjoy your time alone

For me, alone time is a rare, especially during school, so when I get the chance to enjoy some time by myself I love it. Since I am pretty introverted, I honestly prefer spending time by myself. I've learned how to embrace my alone time and make the most of it before it ends. Here are some of my favorite things to do when I'm by myself.


  1. Take a bath Get some bubble bath, candles, a face mask, maybe a good book, and just relax. (Pro tip #1: throw some baby oil in the water and your skin will be baby soft!)
  2. Go for a walk Plug your earphones in and just go for a stroll, it will really relax you. 
  3. Netflix... This is a no-brainer. Start a new series, watch some movies, and enjoy it!
  4. Make a playlist Is there an album you haven't had the time to listen to yet? Take that time to catch up on it.
  5. Workout  Working out is a great way to spend your time, because you are bettering your body!
  6. Cook! Try out a new recipe and dig in!
  7. Online shop If you don't feel like going out, then hop on Amazon or your favorite clothing store and go to town! Treat yo self!!
  8. Start a new book I have a ton of books that I bought and never had the time to read so sometimes when I'm spending time at home I'll start a new one.
  9. Meditate or do yoga Meditation is a great way to spend your time, you can clear your mind and unwind in just a few minutes!
  10. Play video games Fire up Mario Kart!
  11. Listen to a podcast! It's great for when you don't want to listen to music or want to feel productive. Some of my favorites are:

  12. Take up a new hobby.  In the time I spent alone this past year, I've taught myself some:
    • Piano
    • French
    • Html/ CSS
    • Javascript
  13. Journal Use time by yourself to do some self-reflection
  14. Plan for the future You can't predict everything, but I think it's fun to plan for college, and post college.
  15. Clean Organize your room or do some housekeeping!
  16. Paint your nails or do your makeup It's the perfect time to experiment with some new looks and colors
  17. Catch up on homework This might not be the most fun thing on this list but it will keep you productive.
  18. Treat yourself to lunch Take yourself to your favorite restaurant and enjoy yourself
  19. Go somewhere you've never been  A New store just opened up? Go check it out! You don't have to do that with someone, you can go by yourself if you want!
  20. Take a nap! Catch up on your sleep! Sleep while you can
All in all, there is nothing to be ashamed about if you want to spend time alone. Alone time has many benefits and will help you make sure you're taking care of yourself.
